Issa Rae, the producer, writer and director behind The Misadventures of Awkward Black Girl discusses the ignorant and offensive comments by some Twitter users who were absent-minded of her incredible show. Its distasteful to see the true colors of people who ignore her credibility as a producer, writer and director because she is BLACK.

The show is not good because its funny, her show is GREAT because it is funny, realistic and entertaining. These people act as if she is incapable of producing a great show because she is Black. She won the 2012 Shorty Award for Best Web Show for her show. I’m glad that she has a positive outlook on the situation that transpired and is not letting anyone or anything get in the way of her destiny! #RockonIssaRae!

I am a fan of your show and I look forward to seeing more episodes of ABG. My hope is that your show as well as new cutting-edge shows will completely take over mainstream networks by providing new face(s) and new voice(s) in television. Its important to see people who look like us be represented in a positive light on television. You give me hope!

Best wishes,

Brittany

Y.O.L.O= You Only Live Once :)
-Kelsey Fox

To have success is…
to laugh often and much;
to win the respect of intelligent people
and the affection of children;
to earn the appreciation of honest critics
and endure the betrayal of false friends;
to appreciate beauty;
to find the best in others;
to leave the world a bit better whether by a healthy child,
a garden patch or a redeemed social condition;
to know even one life has breathed easier
because you have lived.
This is to have succeeded.

— Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803-1882)
